DETROIT – A shooting early Sunday, June 9, hospitalized two teenagers and shut down a stretch of the Lodge Freeway.
According to authorities, police received a phone call regarding a crashed vehicle on the Lodge Freeway, near McNichols Road at about 1:30 a.m. The caller reportedly said someone had shot at them and that they were hiding. Police said the victim’s vehicle was then struck by another vehicle, whose driver suffered minor injuries.

Michigan State Police said the caller’s vehicle did have bullet holes in it and the driver -- an 18-year-old from West Bloomfield -- and the passenger -- a 19-year-old from Southfield -- were both located. They both reportedly had suffered gunshot wounds on their arms and were taken to a hospital, where they are listed in temporary serious condition.
