This special celebration will commemorate the Great Fire of 1805 (June 11, 1805) and the Latin phrase “Speramus Meliora” and “Resurget Cineribus,” which mean, “We hope for better things” and “it will rise from the ashes.” The phrases were written by Gabriel Richard after the fire.
There will be a live educational reenactment.
