Man killed in Pontiac shooting after allegedly attacking girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend

PONTIAC, Mich. – A shooting in Pontiac killed a 23-year-old man and seriously injured his girlfriend Tuesday, June 11.

According to authorities, a 21-year-old man was attempting to purchase items at a party store near the intersection of Cesar Chavez and Cass avenues when he was assaulted from behind by his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend, Darien Louis Bragg. The three fell to the ground, with Bragg and the girlfriend reportedly on top of the man and hitting him.

Authorities said the man drew a handgun and fired a single shot that hit Bragg in the chest, traveled through him and hit the ex-girlfriend in the stomach.

The girlfriend, 23, was hospitalized in serious condition.

The ex-boyfriend reportedly attempted to pay for his merchandise and waited at the scene for authorities. He was detained without incident.

The shooting happened at about 11:30 p.m.
