NORTHVILLE, Mich. – A businessman from Northville is accused of being responsible for millions of dollars worth of tax fraud.
Ali Kassem Kain allegedly filed false tax documents in connection with his business that arranged for automobiles to be shipped abroad. He reportedly didn’t pay employment taxes for the company’s employees either.

According to authorities, Kain allegedly underreported the business’ gross receipts by several million dollars from 2017-2020 on the business’ corporate returns and underreported the amount of income he earned on his personal returns.
Court documents allege he withheld Social Security, Medicare and federal income taxes from his employees’ wages. He reportedly didn’t collect for these taxes for his employees and didn’t pay the amount due to the IRS.
Kain reportedly caused a tax loss to the IRS of nearly $5 million.
Kain was charged with 15 counts of failing to collect and pay over employment taxes and eight counts of filing false tax returns. If convicted, he faces a possibility of being sentenced to 99 years in jail.
