Woman goes down dead-end street during police chase after fleeing traffic stop in Monroe County

CARLETON, Mich. – A woman went down a dead-end street during a police chase after fleeing a traffic stop in Monroe County, officials said.

A Monroe County deputy tried to pull over a 39-year-old woman at 9:51 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, for a traffic violation near Jones Avenue and North Monroe Street in Carleton.

While the deputy was speaking to the woman, she sped off and led a chase through several streets in Monroe, officials said. The chase reached speeds of up to 45 mph, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase ended when the woman turned down a dead-end street and was blocked in by deputies.

She was taken into custody without further incident.

The woman was brought to the Monroe County Jail on charges of fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing.

She will be arraigned at 1st District Court.
