Teens will tried as adult defendants

Barry Love, 15, and Anthony Carter, 16, both of Detroit, have been charged in connection with the robbery and fatal shooting of 16-year-old Elijah Reese.

The teens will be waived and tried as adult defendants.

The incident occurred on May 22, 2024, at 3:53 p.m. on Bedford Street and Edsel Ford Freeway while walking home from East English Village Preparatory Academy (The Ville) at Finney High School.

Officials say Reese suffered several gunshot wounds to his chest, allegedly over his $1,200 Alexander McQueen sneakers, before fleeing the scene.
