Officials are asking for the public’s input to help shape the future of a park where the Northville Psychiatric Hospital once stood.

The 350-acre park will be discussed with an updated presentation during a July 16 meeting.

The public is encouraged to give input at the meeting, which will be held at the Northville Township Hall Assembly Room, located at 44405 Six Mile Road, near Sheldon Road.

The state-run Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital was closed in 2003 and Northville Township acquired the Seven Mile Road property in 2009. At the time, it included 20 buildings, a water tower, a power plant and other infrastructure.

The property is now called Legacy Park.

The first buildings were demolished in 2012. The signature nine-story, 252,174-square-foot psychiatric hospital came down in 2018. The remaining structures were demolished in 2022.

The public input meeting on Legacy Park will be held 6 p.m., July 16.
