Severe thunderstorm warning expires for Oakland, Wayne, St. Clair, Washtenaw, Macomb counties

The National Weather Service has urgently issued a thunderstorm warning for Wednesday night in St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Macomb counties, effective until 9:30 p.m. and Wayne and Oakland counties until 10:15 p.m. (Copyright 2024 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit - All rights reserved.)

4WARN Weather – The National Weather Service has urgently issued a thunderstorm warning for Wednesday night in St. Clair, Washtenaw, and Macomb counties, effective until 9:30 p.m. and Wayne and Oakland counties until 10:15 p.m.

Severe thunderstorms moved east at five miles per hour along a line extending from near Richmond to New Baltimore near St. Clair Shores.

These thunderstorms are accompanied by 60 mph wind gusts and penny-size hail, which can potentially cause damage to the area’s roofs, siding, and trees.

The severe storms will be near St. Clair Shores, Mount Clemens, New Baltimore, and Clinton.

Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorms include Anchorville, New Haven, Adair, Roseville, Rattle Run, Chesterfield Township, Clinton Township, Fraser, and Fair Haven, Franklin, Plymouth, Commerce, Wolverine Lake, New Hudson, Farmington, Walled Lake, Wixom, Farmington Hills, and Bingham Farms.

This includes the following highways: I-94 between mile markers 228 and 262 and I-696 between miles 27 and 28; I-275 near mile marker 29; I-96 between mile markers 157 and 171; I-696 between mile markers 1 and 7; and M-14 between mile markers 16 and 21.

Residents should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for their protection.

An excessive heat warning and air quality alerts have been issued across Metro Detroit. Temperatures rose above 90 degrees until Friday.
