Sheriff targets summer quality-of-life issues during Wayne County ride-along

Issues range from drag racing and prostitution to drugs and loitering

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – As summer begins, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is increasing its attention on quality-of-life issues.

Wayne County Sheriff Raphael Washington held a news conference Thursday (June 20) about the effort.

“The same things that seem to happen in our summer months, you know, the morality issues that happen,” Washington said.

Washington said these issues range from drag racing and prostitution to drugs and loitering.

“Citizens who are law-abiding citizens, they want to see those things addressed,” Washington said.

After the news conference, Local 4 went on a ride along with Wayne County Sheriff’s Cpl. Michael Noe and his K9 Hobbs.

During the ride along, a man was arrested for suspected solicitation of prostitution and drug possession.

Another traffic stop was made during the ride along for a vehicle without a license plate.

Noe had Hobbs sniff that vehicle as well, but no presence of drugs was indicated.
