Oil spills into Rouge River during demolition at Northville Downs; Spill contained

Northville mayor says hazmat, EGLE have been called to scene

NORTHVILLE, Mich. – Oil from a 55-gallon drum spilled into the Rouge River during the demolition of a building at Northville Downs, according to city officials.

The oil got into the Rouge River in the area of 7 Mile Road between Sheldon and Northville roads. Northville mayor Brian Turnbull said as of Saturday, June 22, 2024, the spill has been contained and a hazmat team and EGLE have been called to the scene.
