SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 76-year-old woman from Superior Township will face trial on felony embezzlement charges.

Nancy Caviston, 76, of Superior Charter Township, will face trial in the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County on two counts of embezzlement by an agent, each a 5-year felony, and two misdemeanor counts of wage and fringe benefits violations, according to Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Caviston operated The Caviston Agency, Inc., a Plymouth insurance agency. She is accused of taking payroll deductions of two long-term employees meant to serve as IRA contribution withholdings and instead using the money for personal and business expenses. She is also accused of not making the required employee matching contributions toward those IRA accounts.

The investigation was conducted by the federal Department of Labor’s Employee Benefits Security Administration. Caviston was granted a $5,000 personal recognizance bond in January. Her next court appearance will be on July 12 before the 3rd Circuit Court in Wayne County.
