Oakland County man dies 8 days after motorcycle crash

Investigation is ongoing

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 40-year-old man died Monday, June 24, more than a week after a motorcycle crash in Commerce Township hospitalized him.

The crash happened June 16 just after 9:15 p.m. on Wixom Road. According to authorities, Joshua Steven Moomaw was on a motorcycle with his wife and waiting to turn left when he was rear-ended by a Toyota, whose driver failed to see them.

Moomaw was taken to a hospital, where he died eight days later from his injuries. His wife was hospitalized, but has since been released.

Authorities said neither person was wearing a helmet at the time.

The driver of the Toyota was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
