Drive-by shooting targets Eastpointe home with 6 children inside

2 men arrested, no injuries reported

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – A drive-by shooting in Eastpointe early Tuesday, June 25, resulted in a tense standoff in St. Clair County that ended with the arrest of two men.

Police said they responded to a drive-by shooting that happened at a home near Forest and Phlox avenues, just south of 10 Mile Road just before 1:15 a.m. A man reportedly fired multiple shots into the house due to an ongoing dispute with his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend.

Several people were inside the home at the time, including six children, but no one was injured in the shooting.

The gunman fled the scene and was suspected to be headed toward a residence in Casco Township. When law enforcement approached the home, two men -- one armed with a rifle -- and a woman reportedly exited the home. The two men quickly returned inside and barricaded themselves, while the woman spoke with officers.

Authorities said they attempted to talk the men out before a St. Clair County SWAT team and Port Huron Special Response Team executed a search warrant at the home and took the two men into custody.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office will review the evidence obtained and decide on charges.
