HILLSDALE COUNTY, Mich. – Michigan State Police have located the man who hospitalized a Hillsdale County deputy during a shooting after an hours-long manhunt.
Eric Michael Fiddler was located Thursday (June 27) at 6:15 p.m. in a field near the intersection of Culbert Road and Osseo Road south by the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team.

MSP said they instructed Fiddler to surrender, but he produced a gun and started shooting at officers who were on the scene.

Officials say Troopers returned fire, and Fiddler was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officials say Fiddler shot the deputy in the area of Beecher and Lamb roads, which required several law enforcement agencies to be present for the manhunt, including K9 Aviation and ES Team.
The Hillsdale County deputy who was hospitalized by Fiddler has succumbed to their injuries, marking the second police officer to lose their lives this week.
