DETROIT – Michigan State Police troopers are out on the road with radar guns at the ready in an effort to curb crashes.
According to MSP, nearly 27,000 crashes in 2022 alone involved speeding -- an 8% increase over the year prior.
“If someone’s driving like 100 miles an hour, and they’re tailgating and they’re doing reckless driving, they’re not good drivers,” said Michigan State Police F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “So what the problem is is you’re combining that speed with somebody that’s not a very good driver.”
Starting July 1 and lasting through the rest of summer, Michigan State Police will have more officers and troopers on the road.
