Woman leads police on high-speed chase through Macomb County in stolen car

Driver on the loose, police say

EASTPOINTE, Mich. – Police are looking for a woman after she led officers on a chase in a stolen car through Macomb County.

When a stolen vehicle out of Taylor was spotted in Eastpointe, police quickly moved in, but the driver had other plans and hit the gas pedal, swiped a squad car and sped the wrong way down a major thoroughfare.

The incident happened early morning Friday, July 5. The woman is still on the run.

She exceeded 70 mph on Gratiot Avenue and narrowly avoided other vehicles before crossing over into Roseville.

The pursuit began at a 7-Eleven store near 9 Mile Road and Hayes Avenue. Police were alerted to people sleeping in a car in the parking lot and when they ran the license plate, they learned it was stolen.

A man and woman were inside the vehicle and instead of turning herself in, she gunned it. Police said she nearly struck the officer and hit the squad car before taking off.

After a short chase, the woman crossed into Roseville and Eastpointe police stopped the pursuit.

The driver has not yet been located.

“We know who you are,” said Eastpointe police Det. Alex Holish. “Turn yourself in. The longer you run, the more trouble you’re going to get.”

Police in Roseville also chased the woman briefly before calling it off due to public safety concerns.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Eastpointe Police Department at 586-445-5100.
