WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A commercial gas line has ruptured in West Bloomfield Township by landscapers.

Officials say the landscapers were working on West Maple Road and Stonebridge Blvd. on Monday (July 8) at 3:30 p.m. when they accidentally ruptured the commercial gas line, causing a significant gas leak at that precise time.

No injuries were reported, and no evacuations were deemed necessary.

Officials say work crews will be performing extensive repair work in the area, resulting in long delays and, at times, complete lane closures.

The repair is expected to last an additional five hours, so motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area until the repair work is completed.
