Remnants of Beryl bring widespread rain, flood threat to Metro Detroit

A flood advisory has been issued in Metro Detroit until 10 a.m., and a flood watch will remain in effect for most of Southeast Michigan until 8 p.m.

The flood advisory has been issued for (Wayne, Washtenaw, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties. The flood watch is in effect north of I-94

Tips to protect your basement from flooding

If you wonder why I keep repeatedly repeating, “Check your sump pump,” it’s because I didn’t take my own advice a few months ago.

A failed pump and water all over my brand-new finished basement later, I feel it’s my responsibility to nag you like an annoying mom.

Prosecution, defense deliver closing arguments in Samantha Woll murder trial

After nearly a month of testimony and dozens of witnesses, attorneys at the Samantha Woll murder trial got their last chance to make their case to the jury.

As closing arguments wrapped up, jury deliberations are expected to begin Wednesday, July 10. Woll was stabbed to death at her Lafayette Park condo last October. Jackson-Bolanos was arrested a month later.

He’s now on trial for first-degree murder, home invasion and lying to a peace officer.
