Psychologist provides tips for people coping with recent tragedies in Metro Detroit

Surrounding communities find series of events challenging to process

Metro Detroiters have been forced to cope with multiple tragedies during the summer of 2024.

Just a few weeks ago, a lone gunman opened fire at a splash pad in Rochester Hills, resulting in nine people being shot, with two victims being children.

Over the July 4th holiday weekend, a shootout at an illegal block party on Detroit’s east side left two people dead and 19 others injured.

The surrounding community can find the series of events challenging to process, especially for children, so Clinical Psychologist Dr. Rose Moten visited Local 4 on Wednesday (July 10) to give tips on how to talk with your children about their worries and concerns while also issuing ways people can cope with tragedy.
