‘We’re getting ready′: Residents are preparing for flood threat across Metro Detroit

1-3 inches of rain are forecasted for SE Michigan on Wednesday

Dearborn Heights residents who live in a flood-prone area are bracing themselves for the incoming rain.

One to three inches of rain are forecasted for Southeast Michigan on Wednesday (July 10).

Despite the challenges, the residents of Hanover Street off Telegraph Road, a known flood-prone area, are demonstrating their resilience by preparing for the upcoming rain.

“We’re getting ready for the flood 2024,” resident Mike Shank said. “Hopefully, it’s not as bad as 2014.”

Shank spent Tuesday evening sweeping the storm drains in the road to keep them clear when the rain comes.

Shank’s neighbor, Marty Seivers, prepared by stacking sandbags and removing valuables and furniture.

“I’ve already lifted everything up,” Sievers said.
