These 2 St. Clair County beaches are closed due to E. coli

Health department issues swimming advisories

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. – Two beaches in St. Clair County have been closed after testing found elevated levels of E. coli in the water.

Chrysler Beach in Marysville and Holland Beach in Port Huron are under swimming advisories as of Thursday, July 11, 2024. Water samples will be collected at those beaches until E. coli test results are within the range deemed acceptable by the State of Michigan.

E. coli bacteria are found in the digestive systems of warm-blooded animals, including humans. Elevated E. coli levels are possible after a storm or strong winds because bacteria are carried in storm water runoff and stirred up from waves.
