DETROIT – Police said all 19 people injured in a mass shooting at a Detroit block party have all been released from the hospital.
The shooting took place on Sunday, July 7, in the area of Reno Street and Rossini Drive. Two people were killed and 19 others were injured.
By Wednesday, July 11, eleven victims had been released from the hospital. The Remaining eight had all been released as of Saturday, July 13.
Detroit police said they do not have anyone in custody. Investigators are analyzing forensic evidence, which indicates that the shooting was not random.
The department has also launched an internal investigation into the response to the mass shooting.
According to authorities, a crew of officers with a supervisor were assigned to break up a large gathering southwest of the mass shooting. That supervisor is now under investigation due to his response when eh was told to drop everything and get to the scene.
Dispatch told the supervisor that multiple shots had been fired and multiple people had been injured. The supervisor told dispatch that he couldn’t release the officers. That decision is under review.
