Metro Detroit church hosts gun buyback, destruction event

More gun buyback events planned across Metro Detroit

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – People looking to safely dispose of unwanted weapons were able to do so at a gun buyback and destruction event at a church in Southfield.

St David’s Episcopal Church in Southfield held its third annual gun disposal event on Saturday, July 13, 2024. This was the first year that guns were destroyed on site as drivers waited.

Anyone who brought a gun to be disposed of was rewarded with artwork, t-shirts, or gift cards from Kroger or Meijer. The church offered $50 for a long gun, $100 for a hand gun, and $200 for an assault rifle.
