The Oakland County restaurant that’s shutting its doors after just 8 months

Bandit Tavern and Hideaway in Royal Oak closing

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A restaurant in Oakland County is permanently shutting its doors less than a year after opening.

Bandit Tavern and Hideaway in downtown Royal Oak closed on Monday, July 8. The business opened in November 2023, about eight months ago.

Previously, that location was the Jolly Pumpkin.

“Thank you for letting us be part of the Royal Oak community. We’ll miss you,” a message posted to their Instagram said.

Jolly Pumpkin announced last October that they would be closing in the space on Main and Fifth, and would be reopening as Bandit Tavern and Hideaway, a southern-inspired restaurant.

The space below the restaurant was known for pop-ups, like the Paddy’s Pub theme that opened on St. Patrick’s Day earlier this year.
