16-year-old hospitalized in Monroe County drive-by shooting

Shooting remains an active investigation

A 16-year-old boy has been hospitalized in a Monroe County drive-by shooting. (WDIV)

MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A 16-year-old boy has been hospitalized in a Monroe County drive-by shooting.

The drive-by shooting occurred on Saturday (July 13) at 11:51 p.m. in the area of East 3rd Street and Half Street in Monroe.

Officials said they discovered the teen had a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh.

The Monroe County Police Department said they administered medical aid alongside the fire department before he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The teen boy said he was walking in the area when an occupant of a passing car shot him and drove away.

Officials say a search of the area was conducted to seek out witnesses and evidence.

The shooting remains an active investigation, and there is no immediate threat to the public.
