MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A Macomb County man found an email telling him he’d won a $100,000 lottery prize in the spam folder of his email.

The 53-year-old man earned entries into a July 2, 2024, random drawing by scanning losing 500X Money Maker tickets on the Michigan Lottery app.

He was selected in the drawing and earned a $100,000 prize.

“I won a 500X Money Maker second chance prize in one of the previous drawings, so I decided to check my email while I was at work one day to see if, by chance, I had any emails about winning another prize,” he said. “I didn’t see anything in my inbox, so I checked my spam box to be sure.

“Sure enough, there was an email from the Michigan Lottery regarding a second chance prize. When I opened the email and saw I’d won the $100,000 prize, I started jumping up and down. I’m not much of a dancer, but I even broke out into a happy dance because I was so excited. I called my wife right after to tell her the good news.”

The man visited Michigan Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He chose to remain anonymous.

He said he plans to take a vacation and then save the rest of his winnings.
