Detroit police hold its fourth installment of Walk-A-Mile Wednesday on city’s west side

Walks are aimed toward fitness, maintaining relationship between law enforcement and community

DETROITDetroit police held its summertime “Walk-A-Mile” Wednesday on the city’s west side.

Detroit police Chief James White, members of the police department, and the DMC walked to Sinai Grace Hospital on Wednesday (July 24).

White says the walks are aimed toward fitness and maintaining the relationship between law enforcement and the community.

“We have a great relationship with our police department, as it is imperative that we continue to build bonds in our community and build bridges in our community,” said White. “We talk about everything from abandoned cars to, ‘You guys are doing a great job, but here’s what you can do better.’ It’s just a really good time for me to get out and have a walking meeting with our community.”

This is the fourth year for DPD’s Walk-A-Mile Wednesdays.
