PONTIAC, Mich. – There’s been a lot of changes happening in Pontiac lately and even more are approaching.

On Wednesday, July 31, details were released regarding a big improvement that’s on the way.
“This is a big deal,” said Mayor Tim Greimel.
It was a big announcement about a big project: the former McCarroll School -- which has sat empty for nearly 20 years -- is finally coming down.
“We’re taking this down to make way for the new youth recreation center in our community,” Greimel said. “And this is something, yes, that deserves a round of applause.”
Pontiac aims to have the new rec center have a huge impact on its families. The city went out and got a $500,000 State Land Bank Blight Elimination grant and voters in Pontiac approved a millage that will help
Phase one, taking the old school down, is ready to go.
Phase two is building something that will impact lives.
