20-year-old accused of killing man with pocketknife during argument in Detroit gas station

DETROIT – A 20-year-old is facing the possibility of spending the rest of their life behind bars after a deadly stabbing on Detroit’s west side.

According to authorities, 32-year-old Gregory Gibson was stabbed in the chest on July 16 at a gas station on W McNichols Road, near the Southfield Freeway. He was taken to a hospital by medics, where he died from his injuries. Police believe KeJuan David Deshaun Hedwood got into an argument with Gibson before stabbing him in the chest with a pocketknife. Police took Hedwood into custody Tuesday, July 30.

Hedwood was charged Friday, Aug. 2, with first-degree murder. His bond was set at $1,000,000 cash/surety. A bond hearing is scheduled Aug. 5.

If convicted, Hedwood could be sentenced to life in jail.
