WARREN, Mich. – A woman blocked the doors of a Macomb County home and set the building on fire to try to kill the three adults and two children inside, officials said.
London Elizabeth Johnson, 27, of Warren, is accused of blocking the two exits of a building on Aug. 1, 2024, and then setting it on fire.
Officials said Johnson lived at the home with five other people, including two children.
“By allegedly setting fire to the home, the defendant not only endangered the lives of the five occupants, but also put the entire community at risk,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. “We will pursue justice for the victims and hold her accountable for her actions.”
Johnson was charged with five counts of attempted murder and one count of second-degree arson. Attempted murder carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, and second-degree arson is a 20-year felony.
She was arraigned at 37th District Court in Warren and given a $1 million bond, cash/surety. If released, she must wear a steel cuff tether.
She was also referred for a mental health screening.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Aug. 13, 2024.
