FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 14-year-old boy was taken into custody Saturday, Aug. 11, after a brief police chase on a mini bike in Frenchtown Township.

According to authorities, Monroe County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Cloverdale Street and Parkwood Drive in Woodland Beach on reports of mini bikes being operated on the roadways. A deputy attempted a traffic stop on a mini-bike, but the driver reportedly sped off.
Deputies pursued the teen, who reportedly ignored stop signs and drove recklessly through the Woodland Beach and Erie Shores neighborhoods. The teen reportedly stopped the mini bike on Lakeshore Drive and ran on foot, but was apprehended shortly after.
The 14-year-old boy was placed under arrest and lodged at the Monroe County Youth Center for fleeing and eluding police.
