Man charged in non-fatal shooting of 7-year-old boy in Inkster

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Antwon Tryee Williams, 22, of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 7-year-old boy in Inkster.

Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Antwon Tryee Williams, 22, of Detroit, in connection with the non-fatal shooting of a 7-year-old boy in Inkster.

The incident occurred on July 15, 2024, at 12:35 a.m. when Inkster police went to an apartment in the 400 block of Tobin Drive for a reported shooting.

Officials said they located the 7-year-old boy inside the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The child was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Allegedly, Williams was handling the gun, and it fired, striking the boy in the chest, non-fatally wounding him.

The 22-year-old man has been charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm, discharge in a building causing injury, careless discharge causing injury, and three counts of felony firearm.

Williams was arraigned on Aug. 7, 2024, in the 22nd District Court and given a $100,000 cash/surety bond.

The probable cause conference is scheduled for Aug. 21, 2024, at 9 a.m.
