Kids can start the new school year with a new backpack and more at the 6th annual Back to School Empowerment Event in Detroit.
The 2024 event will be held at The Corner Ballpark (1680 Michigan Ave) on Aug. 21, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and is open and free to the public.

In addition to free backpacks, kids can get haircuts, manicures, along with on-site games, activities and resources for families.
There is also free parking available.
Students must be present to get a Sprayground Bag.
