UAW files federal labor charges against Donald Trump, Elon Musk for alleged worker intimidation

UAW President Shawn Fain called Trump a scab in a statement

The United Auto Workers has filed federal labor charges against former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk for their alleged illegal attempts to threaten and intimidate workers who stand up for themselves by engaging in protected concerted activity.

The suit filed on Tuesday (Aug. 13) states that strikes and similar activities are protected concerted activities.

Trump and Musk took to X on Monday night, advocating for the illegal firing of striking workers.

“I mean, I look at what you do, you walk in, and you just say, ‘You wanna quit,’” asked Trump. “Then go on strike. I won’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike, and you say, ‘That’s okay, you’re all gone.’ So every one of you is gone.”

Federal law states that workers cannot be fired for going on strike, and threatening to do so is illegal under the National Labor Relations Act.

UAW President Shawn Fain called Trump a scab in a statement.

“When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean.

Donald Trump will always side against workers standing up for themselves, and he will always side with billionaires like Elon Musk, who is contributing $45 million a month to a Super PAC to get him elected.

Both Trump and Musk want working-class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns.”

The Trump campaign issued out a statement saying, “President Trump strengthened our economy and delivered results on behalf of the forgotten men and women of America, and he will do it again when he is re-elected on November 5th.”
