CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A girl managed to escape from a man who shoved her into the back of a car in Macomb County.

Police in Clinton Township said they were called around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2024, to the area of Hayes and Clinton River roads.

A Clinton Township girl told officers that she had been walking when a man grabbed her around the head or neck area and forced her into the back of his car through the rear driver’s side door.

Another Clinton Township resident saw the abduction and physically intervened, police said. That allowed the girl to run away and alert others, who called 911.

The driver fled the scene in a white sedan. He was arrested in Sterling Heights after a second abduction attempt, police said.

Officials continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to call the Clinton Township Police Department at 586-493-7856 and reference case No. 24-27830.
