ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A brewery in St. Clair Shores will be closing permanently at the end of the month after seven years of business.

Jamex Brewing Co. announced the closure on social media on Aug. 9, 2024, stating that the brewery will be closed at the end of August.

The statement reads, in part, “This is a very challenging industry in a very challenging time. At this point, the risk/reward of owning this business with an amazing family of 5 to support simply does not justify staying open.”

The owners thanked the community, and said that they will be hosting closing festivities. On Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, there will be Pub Quiz Trivia at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. On Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, at 7 p.m. there will be live music from Ben Allemon. Check the brewery’s Facebook page for updates.

This is the second brewery to close in St. Clair Shores this year. Dragon’s Landing pub closed on March 24, 2024. The two remaining breweries in town are Baffin Brewing Company and Copper Hop Brewing Company.

“We are so saddened to announce the closure of Jamex at the end of August. Normally at this time of year we would be planning our birthday festivities. Instead we are planning our closing festivities (because we still have to get rid of all this beer!)

“This is a very challenging industry in a very challenging time. At this point, the risk/reward of owning this business with an amazing family of 5 to support simply does not justify staying open.

“Instead of being sad about our closing, we would like to take some time to reflect on all the good that has happened. We learned so much. So much about business, about brewing, and especially about community.

“Community. The community around us has been beyond phenomenal. So many memories and relationships have blossomed here. Love, marriages, engagements, babies, birthdays were all celebrated here. Promotions, retirements, and losses were shared here. Life-long friendships were made, and we are so grateful to have been able to be a part of these. We will always appreciate and cherish everyone who walked through our door and opened up to us. Because of you all, we made it this far. 7 wonderful years!!

“We will be going out with bang, we have plenty of fun events coming up this month and even a couple more beers! Come in over the next few weeks and throw back some brewskis with us 🍻

“Cheers and much love.”
