1 killed, 2 hurt in head-on crash between SUVs in Lenawee County

State police believe alcohol was factor in crash

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – One person was killed and two were injured in a head-on crash between SUVs in Lenawee County.

The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024, on Tecumseh-Clinton Highway, near Allen Road, in Clinton Township (Lenawee County).

Michigan State Police troopers said a silver GMC Terrain was heading north on Tecumseh-Clinton Highway when it was struck by a southbound blue Jeep Wrangler.

The 72-year-old Clinton Township man driving the GMC was killed in the crash. His passenger, a 75-year-old Clinton Township woman, was flown to University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor in critical condition.

Officials said the 38-year-old Tecumseh woman driving the Jeep was taken to U of M Hospital with minor injuries.

She is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, according to Michigan State Police.

Tecumseh-Clinton Highway was shut down near Allen Road for several hours while troopers investigated the crash.
