Massive citywide garage sale kicks off in St. Clair Shores: What to know

ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A citywide garage sale will take place this weekend in St. Clair Shores, and more than 1,100 houses are expected to participate.

This is the second year the Cool City Committee organized a citywide garage sale. In 2023, the event had more than 820 houses participate in the sale.

Shoppers are encouraged to plan their route ahead of time, bring cash, and remember to be kind.

What are the garage sale dates?

Even though the event was promoted as a weekend sale, participants can have sales from Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, through Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. Sales generally begin at 10 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.

Is it too late to participate?

No, it’s not too late! You can still have a garage sale this weekend if you even if you didn’t register.

If you live in St. Clair Shores you do not need a permit to have a garage sale between Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 through Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024.

What if it rains?

The citywide garage sale is expected to continue even if it rains.

How to donate unsold items

If you participated in the sale and have unsold items that you’d like to donate, a drive will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the SCS Civic Center at 20000 Stephens Road.

More information about the donation drive will be shared at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
