Wayne State University ends teaching job for Detroit Judge Kenneth King

King has been removed from his criminal case docket as he undergoes necessary training

The fallout continued after Detroit Judge Kenneth King had a teen handcuffed because she fell asleep in his courtroom.

Wayne State University tells NBC News that King has been removed from teaching classes there.

The move comes after the King admonished 15-year-old Eva Goodman after she fell asleep in his courtroom during a field trip Tuesday (Aug. 13) organized by a Detroit nonprofit.

Goodman’s mother says her daughter was put in jail clothes and handcuffs.

The chief judge at 36th District Court says King has been removed from his criminal case docket as he undergoes necessary training.

“In light of the 36th District Court’s temporary suspension of Judge Kenneth King, Wayne State University has reassigned two Fall 2024 courses to other instructors. As a contracted part-time faculty member, Judge King has never had an ongoing faculty appointment. Since 2022, he has taught a total of five sections of courses between Wayne State’s Law School and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.”
