Driver charged for crash that left 4 dead, 1 badly hurt in Lenawee County

Adrian man faces 4 counts of reckless driving causing death

MACON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A driver has been charged for a crash between two pickup trucks that left four people dead and another badly injured in Lenawee County.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. Sept. 4, 2023, at the intersection of Britton Highway and Milwaukee Road in Macon Township.

Officials said a white Ford F-150 pickup was heading south on Britton Highway when it was struck by a gray Ford F-250 pickup going east on Milwaukee Road.

The driver and two passengers from the Ford F-150 were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger was taken to ProMedica Hickman Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Police said all four men were from Lenawee County. They were 35, 33, 23, and 18 years old.

F-250 driver charged

After the crash, the 55-year-old Adrian man driving the F-250 was taken to St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor with injuries that were considered life-threatening.

Officials revealed Friday, Aug. 16, 2024, that he is believed to have been the at-fault driver in the crash.

He was arrested Thursday and charged with four counts of reckless driving causing death.

He is being held at the Lenawee County Jail, pending arraignment.
