Police search for man connected to vehicle explosions outside Detroit post office

Officials say 6 vehicles were damaged, and 4 were burned due to incident

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department is seeking help identifying the man involved in blowing up multiple vehicles outside of a post office on the city’s east side.

The incident occurred on Thursday (Aug. 15) at 1:43 p.m. when the man walked up to a white 2018 Chevy Traverse in the parking lot of the Post Office located in the 17300 block of Harper Avenue, threw an object through the front passenger side window, poured an accelerant inside of it and set it fire.

The accelerant inside of the Traverse exploded, launching the man into an adjacent vehicle.

Officials say six vehicles were damaged, and four were burned due to the incident.

Police say the man is heavy-set. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt with a white shirt underneath and blue jeans.
