Police seek teens involved in failed jewelry store robbery on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT – The Detroit Police Department is searching for two teens who entered a jewelry store and smashed some glass cases in an attempt to rob it of its expensive items.

The incident occurred on Monday (Aug. 19) in the 21700 block of W. 8 Mile Road.

Officials said the two teens fled the location on foot after the store owner stopped them before they could steal any merchandise.

The first teen is described as a boy aged 16-18, 5′8″-5′10″, 130-140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, blue Nike hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, and red and white Nike shoes armed with a hammer.

The second teen is described as a boy aged 16-18, 5′8″, 130-140 pounds, wearing a gray Nike hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black, white, and red Nike gym shoes. He is armed with a large wooden stick.
