GIBRALTAR, Mich. – A Metro Detroit city decided to give goatscaping a try, and it’s been a big hit.

It’s like landscaping with goats -- or the official definition: “using goats to manage vegetation growth.”

Gibraltar City Council member Dorothy Wood said the city’s community center was beginning to get invasive species and decided to give goatscaping a try.

“We have heard of goatscaping, and quite a few cities have been doing this for years,” Wood said.

Wood said the goats don’t only help with the invasive species -- they also munch on a variety of other plants and weeds.

“It is something fun and also helpful for what we are trying to accomplish,” she said.

So far, it’s been a hit with the community.

“Residents of all ages are coming to check out what’s happening and are enjoying some goat fun,” Wood said.

Wood said the goats are rented from Twin Willow Ranch in Milan.
