“We had a busy day with our firefighters,” said Harris. “They’re staying busy. They’re staying hydrated, but we did have a firefighter suffer minor heat exhaustion at a dwelling fire over on Lesure in the 15000 block, but he’s going to be OK,” said Harris.

The firefighter has been transported to a Metro Detroit hospital, where he is being treated.

According to Harris, the dwelling fire wasn’t too bad, but he said he and his team never want fires, which is the department’s goal.

“It wasn’t too bad, but like we always say, ‘All fires are bad; we don’t want any fires, which is the goal,’ so the men and women in the Detroit Fire Department did an awesome job distinguishing the fire.”

Harris told Local 4 that the fire in a 1.5-story dwelling caused significant damage but wasn’t a total loss.

No civilians were inside the dwelling during the fire, but the temperature caused the firefighter to get heat exhaustion.

Harris says the firefighter will be released Tuesday night.
