Dearborn police search for driver in Benihana parking lot shooting that injured 2

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest

DEARBORN, Mich. – The Dearborn Police Department is searching for the driver of a Ford Explorer who is believed to be involved in the non-fatal shooting of two people.

The shooting occurred on Wednesday (Aug. 21) at 9 p.m. in the parking lot of Benihana in the 18601 block of Hubbard Drive.

Officials say occupants of a gold or silver Ford Explorer fired nearly 20 rounds of varying calibers at a group of people gathered near their vehicles.

The two people who sustained gunshot wounds were transported to Corwell Health where they are expected to make a full recovery.

“The Dearborn Police Department will aggressively investigate this crime and utilize all available resources to identify the suspect(s). Our officers secured the area almost immediately following reports of gunshots, and we do not believe there to be a threat of danger to the broader public at this point. We are urging anyone with information to please come forward and provide information to help identify those involved.”
