MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Two teens are facing conspiracy to commit murder charges after prosecutors say they plotted to kill the girl’s mother.
According to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, a 17-year-old boy entered the 14-year-old girl’s mother’s Eastpointe home and strangled her. He ran away after being confronted.
The mother survived the attack and is expected to recover.
Prosecutor’s said that woman’s 14-year-old daughter plotted with the 17-year-old boy to murder her mother.
The 14-year-old girl was arraigned on Aug. 14, 2024, and was charged with solicitation of murder, and conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder. Her bond was set at $1 million and she was remanded to the Juvenile Justice Center.
The 17-year-old boy was arraigned on Aug. 12, 2024, and was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree premeditated murder, and assault with intent to murder. His bond was set at $2.5 million and he was remanded to the Juvenile Justice Center.
Prosecutors are seeking to charge them both as adults. They both face life in prison if convicted.
They are both scheduled for a probable cause hearing at 8 a.m. on Aug. 27, 2024, in Eastpointe District Court by District Court Judge Kathleen Galen.
