9-year-old boy hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in Madison Heights

One person has been arrested

MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – A 9-year-old boy is in the hospital after officials say he accidentally shot himself with an unsecured gun in Madison Heights.

The incident occurred on Friday (Aug. 23) at 1:19 p.m. in the 30000 block of Palmer Street near 12 Mile Road and John R.

Officials say the boy is in stable condition, but one person has been arrested.

The incident is still under investigation, and they will submit their findings to the Oakland County Prosecutors Office.
