Local 4 Investigator Karen Drew talked to Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido

GROSSE POINTE, Mich. – Charges will be filed against a well-known family member in Grosse Pointe.

Local 4 Investigator Karen Drew talked to Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido, who said he will press charges against Bill Matouk Jr. for felonious assault, and it all centers around him reportedly crashing into a billboard truck.

If you live in the Gross Pointes, odds are you may have seen the truck driving around promoting a podcast that dives into the death of Joann Matouk, a Metro Detroit mother who police say walked into an icy Lake St. Clair back in 2010 and killed herself.

The podcast shares a different theory.

An eyewitness reported to police seeing a white van speed up and intentionally crash into the billboard truck on June 30, 2024. According to the police report, Bill was behind the wheel.

Typically, we don’t report on car accidents, but this is different. There was an eyewitness, damage, and a police report that said this was an intentional crash, but there was no action on the case for seven weeks.

The case was moved to Wayne County, to the attorney general office, and now to the Macomb County prosecutor because of a conflict of interest.

After making calls to the Macomb County prosecutor Monday (Aug. 26) morning asking about the case, a few hours ago, we were just informed charges of felonious assault will be filed.

We have covered the Matouk family for over a decade, and we know Joann’s children are still seeking justice for their mom’s death.

Officials say it was suicide, but the Matouk family strongly disagrees. We worked on an in-depth investigation into Joannes’s death found below.
