How Michigan party store owner used fake bottle return slips to steal thousands of dollars

DAVISON, Mich. – A 34-year-old from Davison is accused of committing thousands of dollars of bottle deposit fraud.

According to authorities, Namir Shango created fake bottle deposit return invoices that were made to look like they were generated by his Mt. Morris liquor store’s bottle processing machine.

He allegedly used the fake slips on his drink distributor to receive credits on deliveries.

He was charged Wednesday, Aug. 21, with false pretenses, $50,000 to $100,000, a 15-year felony.
