Officials said Reyes operated the dirtbike that was reported stolen out of Shelby Township, was traveling southbound on Telegraph Road and disregarded a solid red traffic light.

The dirtbike drove through the intersection and was struck by a Ford Edge.

Multiple witnesses and the driver of the Ford Edge remained on the scene and attempted to render aid to the 19-year-old, until the Taylor Fire Department arrived on the scene.

Reyes was transported to Corewell Health Hospital in Dearborn, where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Ford Edge is cooperating with the investigation. Speed, drugs and/or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
